Larry’s 9 Rules for Dealing with Joint Pain

So, today after I got back from the doctor’s, I open up my email and I see Larry Scott’s January 2011 newsletter.  And training tip # 1 dealt with joint pain.

Wow

He must have been reading my mind…or my pain.

My right knee has been in agony since last Friday.  Have no clue as to what I did to it.  After looking at it, my doc seems to think it’s gout.  Normally I get gout in my foot (one time in my ankle) but this is the first time in my knee.

The pain is brutal

Anyway, I click open Larry’s newsletter and here’s some of what he had to say:

“I read where you say you have no joint problems at all now and you are fifty four years old. I just can’t believe it. I have problems with my shoulders, knees and elbows. I have to sleep with my arms over my head because the pain just won’t let me sleep otherwise. Both of my elbows are sore all the time and my knees are even worse. I am on Motrin and other anti-inflammatories all the time …it’s driving me crazy. You have been training longer than I have, and you are probably using heavier weights than I use, Larry. How do you do it? I love training and I just hate to miss workouts but the pain is killing me. If you have something that will help, I’ll be eternally grateful to you.”  Read more here…
He goes on to give his 9 rules for overcoming injuries.

His rules don’t really apply to me and my gout.  For me, the answer is the little, green pills.  And the prednisone that doc prescribed me because the inflammation is really bad.

But if you’ve hurt your shoulders recently doing press behind the necks, his rules might work better for you.
